Chaghatay is a Turkic literary language used in written genres in Central Asia until the twentieth century. The prerequisite of the course is an elementary knowledge of another Turkic language, Persian and/or Arabic, and of the Arabic alphabet. The course consists of grammar segment (Schluessel, E.: An Introduction to Chaghatay: A Graded Textbook for Reading Central Asian Sources; 2018) and of reading various mostly manuscript sources. Students from outside Czechia will be charged a fee of 100 EUR.
