The Oriental Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship funded by the Czech Academy of Sciences. The research and disciplinary focus of the position is open but must relate to the history, politics, societies, or cultures of the Middle East, Central Asia, South Asia, or East Asia. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue publications in academic journals (in English), participate in the Institute’s seminars, conferences, and workshops, and contribute to enhancing the Institute’s international networks and outreach. The position is based in Prague with a tentative start date of June/July 2024. After selection by the Oriental Institute, the successful applicant must receive final approval by the Board of the Czech Academy of Sciences. This position is for one year with the possible extension for a second year.
Qualifications:
- PhD received within the last two years in a field related to one of the Oriental Institute’s areas of research. The two-year period does not include parental leave or long-term research trips abroad, however, the period from receiving the PhD may be no longer than four years.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Working knowledge of at least one research language other than English.
