Taiwan Resource Center for Chinese Studies

On Friday, Oct 31, 2014, the Oriental Institute opened the branch of Taiwan Resource Center for Chinese Studies.


The branch will form the basis of the nascent long-term cooperation of the Oriental Institute with the National Central Library of Taiwan. The ceremonial opening was attended by the Director of the Institute, Dr. Ondrej Beranek, Director General of the National Central Library of Taiwan, Dr. Tseng Shu-hsien, Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Prague, Christine Hsueh, Director of the Library of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Ing. Martin Lhotak, Director of the Institute of Far East at Charles University and the Chiang Ching-kuo International Sinological Centre at Charles University, prof. Olga Lomova, and representatives of four generations of Czech and Slovak sinologists. By establishing the TRCCS, the Oriental Institute joined several prestigious sinological institutes around the world which already host this centre, such as SOAS, University in Leiden, the University of Texas at Austin, or University in Leipzig. The establishment of the TRCCS is also a result of the long-term contacts of Czech sinologists with Taiwan.
