For example, take a virtual tour of one of the most important monuments of medieval Mosul, the Shrine of Imam Awn al-Din ibn al-Hasan, which was deliberately destroyed by the Islamic State soon after the occupation of the city in 2014. Click here to access the shrine.
In the database you will find a complete catalog of Mosulʼs destroyed architectural monuments, analyses of satellite images and an extensive map application with a detailed interactive map of the destroyed historical core of the city in the GIS system. You will also find several other 3D models of selected historic buildings. The database is accessible on the project website www.monumentsofmosul.com.
