Join us on June 23rd for an exciting lecture featuring Dr. Satoshi Aketagagawa, an Associate Professor in the Chinese Studies Department at Chuo University, Japan. Holding a PhD in Literature from the University of Tokyo, Dr. Aketagagawa is an expert in Taiwanese and Sinophone literatures, having published extensively on Hakka writer Lee Chiao and translated numerous contemporary Taiwanese authors.

In this upcoming talk, he will examine the deep historical relationship between Taiwan and Japan, exploring how Taiwanese stories travel across borders. The discussion will highlight how systematic translation and growing academic reception since the 1990s have brought diverse themes—such as colonial memory, Indigenous voices, and LGBTQ identities—to Japanese readers. Don't miss this unique opportunity to engage in a profound cross-cultural dialogue!
