Research Fellow Position in Ancient Near Eastern Studies (Anatolia and Syria)

The Oriental Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences invites applications for a three-year Research Fellow position in Ancient Near Eastern Studies, with a focus on Anatolia and neighboring regions during the Bronze and Iron Ages. The successful candidate will conduct innovative research on the administrative, economic, and territorial organization of the Hittite state.

The fellow is expected to produce high-quality publications in peer-reviewed international journals, actively contribute to the Institute’s academic life (seminars, conferences, workshops), and strengthen its international research networks and outreach activities.

Your profile

  • D. in Ancient Near Eastern Studies or a closely related field
  • Specialization in the Bronze and Iron Ages in Anatolia and Syria
  • Experience in archaeological fieldwork in Turkey is an advantage
  • Exceptional publication record in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English

 Employment conditions

  • Salary: approximately EUR 1800-2200 per month
  • Full-time employment contract
  • Duration of contract: 3 years
  • Starting date: July 1st, 2026
