This conference aims to examine the colonial encounters and (trans)regional relations of religious
minorities in and between Afghanistan, Central Asia, and Iran in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It
seeks to explore how the colonial setting and the emergence of new borders affected and reshaped
these communities.
