Job Opening: Junior Researcher (Full-Time)

The Oriental Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences invites applications for a full-time Junior Researcher focusing on the economic, religious, environmental, or cultural migration corridors in (Eur)Asia that addresses state (e.g. bilateral treaties and migration law) and non-state (e.g. ethnicity and religion) factors influencing migration flow. The position is part of the project Migration and Us: Mobilities, Refugees, and Borders from the Perspective of the Human Sciences within the working group “State and Transnational Migration”. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue publications in academic journals (in English) and participate in the working group’s activities and workshops.

 

Start: April 2025 or earlier.

Duration: 18 months (with an option for extension)

Deadline for application: February 15, 2025.

 

Qualifications: 

  • PhD received within the last seven years related to Middle East or Asian Studies or in another field of the humanities related to the project topic.
  • Experience in textual and/or field research using original sources.
  • Competency to conduct research and publish in English.
  • Working knowledge of at least one research language other than English. 
  • Knowledge of Czech language is not a requirement. However, we appreciate we appreciate efforts at integration into Czech academic life with regard to candidate’s potential future involvement with the Oriental Institute.
